Saturday, July 15th 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.
Founder’s Park – Motor Mill
Clayton County Conservation, in partnership with the Turkey River Recreational Corridor and the Clayton County Conservation Awareness Network, invite YOU to come to this one-of-a-kind party on the Turkey River.
The Turkey River ties together people and places throughout Northeast Iowa, and the Turkey River Water Trail is one of the most popular paddling destinations in the entire midwest. So come and help us celebrate this iconic treasure!
At 10:00 AM we plan to gather at Founder’s Park in Elkader. Following a few words on the importance of the Turkey River as an amazing natural and recreational resource, we will launch, bound for the Motor Mill Historic Site. Any and all floating crafts are welcome – canoes, kayaks, inner tubes… There’s no rush, it’s a party!
Following a lunch break on a sandbar – BYO lunch, snacks, and beverages – the party will feature a “floating concert,” with LIVE MUSIC played from the bow of a boat. If you’ve never heard a rowboat used as a kickdrum, then you really haven’t lived…
Use this event to plan carpools and shuttles, and stay tuned for further updates. Tell your friends, tell your family, and let’s make this truly a float to remember!
